hi,

I am a student at Quinnipiac University, I am majoring in Interactive Digital Design, which includes 3d work. I am helping the school set up a render farm, are using 7 old Dual G5 PowerMacs as the slaves and a Dual G4 PowerMac ast he master, we are planning on using DrQueue as our management software. We have a lab of Mac Pros with Maya 8.5 on them, the G5s will be running Debian Linux, we don’t want to have to buy Maya for Linux, I mostly use Blender because of the costs of Maya, I am freshman, and I didn’t like the watermark in Maya PLE. We are thinking of exporting the Maya files to a format that Blender can read. Blender can’t read the Maya Binary files. Can Maya 8.5 export to .obj files?

yes, maya can export to .obj, but you must enable it in the plug-ins…
