I'm currently working on a project that requires me to reference files with File Reference Locators. They can be turned on under Reference Option by ticking Group and Locator in the General Options. However, whenever i remove the Reference from the Reference Editor, the loctor remains. I usually just delete this by hand afterwards, but i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to auto-delete the locator when removing the Reference. Seems there should be a way seeing as Maya creates the locator to start with. QUESTION 1) Are there upgrades or plug-ins that will help me to open files from school (Maya 2008)? Everyone is telling me to check the box marked "ignore version," but my version of Maya doesn't have that option in the Import File Options Window, nor in the Open File Options Window. QUESTION 2) Someone else suggested that I export the files from school as .obj files. Will Maya 7 be able to open these, or is there another way to export them as earlier versions of Maya? But what happened after working 2 or 3 hours I restarted my computer and opened the last saved file.....file opened but nothing was there....even in last 2 or 3 versions were also empty.....in outliner it was showing the names poly surfaces only.
