I have a very annoying issue with Maya 8.5. It will randomly, continuously, freak out in the view port. The error occurs if I zoom or rotate around the viewport. It seems to continuously ‘snap’ back to the start of my zoom or rotate. I can correct it by double tapping space bar, so it’s not a serious error, however it occurs very frequently and makes the viewport unusable while it is in effect.

I know this is an old topic, but I have the same prob, and it seems this thread never came up with an answer.

Im running

Windows XP x64

Maya 8.5 x64 SP1

On

AMD Athlon X2 Dualcore

Nvidia 7800 GT

2Gb Ram

Any help would be great, as installing the Service Pack did not help at all.

It has to do with a glitch in the NVidia Geforce/Forceware drivers. The options you have is:

- Roll back your drivers to the Nvidia Certified drivers for maya (8.0) http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_20010601_2940.html
- Buy a Quadro
- Or do something so you can use the Quadro Drivers (more I will not say about this since I don’t know if it is legal)

Most people also seem to think that this problem is not adressed on purpose by Nvidia because Maya is only Certified to run on Nvidia’s Quadro’s or ATI/AMD’s FireGL’s.
