I checked the following part of the Autodesk site where the updates are, yet I didn’t have any luck finding an update for Maya Unlimited 8.0.
Here’s the site:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/ser...id=2334435&linkID=9242259

There were updates for versions 7 and 8.5, plus all the newer versions, but no version 8.0 in between the 7 and 8.5.

I really need some help finding a Maya Unlimited 8.0 update, or something that will fix this big bug i’ve been having with Maya. What happens in this bug is this: at random times, my scene, no matter how big in size or ammounts of polygons, spins rapidly, and the objects in the scene get distorted in a 2d sort of way, yet the interface usually seems fine, but all I can do is save and then I restart my computer, hoping that it will fix the bug. Unfortunately, I have stopped using Maya for now because I’m afraid that since this bug started (but I’m not sure when it started), that I will lose all my work i’ve done in one scene while working on it, even if I save the scene.

I really want to use Maya again, but I cannot thinking that this annoying bug will randomly come back as I use Maya. It’s almost as if the bug makes the scene jump frames on the screen when I rotate around my objects in Maya. When I try to edit objects when this big bug happens, I cannot see what I’m editing, nor know if I’m modeling since it gets so jumpy, and seems to spin rapidly.

Please can someone tell me where to get the Maya Unlimited 8.0 update, please?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing that Autodesk gives you is service packs and there never was a service pack for 8.0. That’s why you can’t find anything. The best thing you might be able to get is a patch, and the last patch ever released was Maya 8.0P19. You should know that patches are not released to the general public, usually for very good reasons; they are NOT tested other than for the specific bug they are intended to fix and may break other functionality. Service packs don’t have this problem ; they are tested completely and can be safely used. Your bug very likely is not fixed in any patches. If you did not log the bug, chances that it was fixed is damn near zero.

Your problem does sound a lot like a graphics card driver issue, so I would start by making sure your system is qualified at http://www.autodesk.com/maya-hardware.

You’re most likely right, it probably is a graphics card driver issue and that means my graphics card driver needs updating.

Thanks for the heads up about patches for software, and thanks for telling me there was no update for Maya 8.0. Maybe their company at the time (Alias?, Autodesk?) didn’t find any bugs at all to fix in the version 8.0 of Maya.

Thanks also for the link, but I think I have the right Operating System (I have Windows XP) for Maya 8.0. I don’t know why, but on the page that you gave me the link to, it only listed the release dates for for most versions of Maya, and also what Operating System you need for each version of Maya listed.

Thanks for all the information and help.
