Hey guys, can anyone help in in figuring out why Maya keeps crashing on m when ever i try adding a smoke effect to a BBQ grill animation. I have a fire effect on the charcoal to simulate the cooking of the steak on the grill. Since i tried adding a smoke effect and run the sequence Maya will slow to a crawl if not freeze on me unless i wait like 10 or 20 minutes for it to stop. Any ideas as to what i am doing wrong? I’ve tried reducing some attribute setting for the smoke particle but still no luck.

Did you use [Dynamics] Effects->Create Smoke to create the effect? Which settings did you use? What is the resolution of the sprite images?

Yes i did go through dynamics then create smoke for that. This is my first time working with these effects so im not too sure what settings you are asking about ? Any particular attribute ? Also i don’t seem to see where the resolution for the sprites are located.

Ok so everything went well. I just ended up deleting the original emitter and started over again and it worked just fine. Just one more problem now. I have a fire effect under neath the steak object but the fire wont render when i use hardware rendering and the smoke effect wont render with the software rendering. Is there an option to view both rendered?
