Hi,

I got a beginner/intermediate question on having duplicate nCloth systems. First of all: i think the nDynamics are great!

My nCloth system is setup, and works perfectly as i planned it to work. Now it is working, i would like two have *two* of them in the scene both working independently but using the same laws, and i don’t seem to be able to get that right.

First try was to duplicate special the group the system was in with all different options, second try was to reference the system and use a namespace. Both ways just turned out messy and none of them brought me the second nCloth system.

Would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction what i might be doing wrong or what to watch out for?

Thanks a lot,
Aksel

How bout saving your nCloth settings as a preset - and applying it to your ‘new’ nCloth object?

Unfortunately that is no option, as the system consists of round 20 nCloth objects with many constraints in between them. I just need a replica of that, and i still couldn’t figure out how. But thanks for your reply!

Import your scene back into the same scene. This will generate duplicates of everything with all of their connections intact. You should have two nucleus solvers at this point, causing each to solve separately.

Todd, yep! That reimport did the trick, thanks a bunch!!!

May i ask you, is there any way the same would work with a reference as well? Because referencing, other than import, will mess up my nconstraints for some reasons.

Thanks, Aksel

I’ve noticed this is really the only way to get a real duplicate, without recreating the entire setup by hand.  I’ve not found a way other than this.
