Hi
i’m trying to shatter/fracture a mesh similar to This Image. Is there a way to fracture a mesh based on image. Maya’s built-in tool can’t fracture mesh based on image. Is there a way to achieve this.

I have checked Texture to Geometry and doing some tests with it. i’ll get back here with my results. My main aim is to mimic this Video.

I recommend shattering the mesh in Maya, triangulate the result, move it to realflow create the shattering dynamic effect there, move the result back to maya for texturing, lighting and rendering. The rest can be completed in the compositing phase.
Using ZBrush you can actually create the shattered parts exactly as you want quite easily, but that only if you are looking for specific exact looking sort of fragments.
I hope this helps a bit.
