64-bit vs. 32-bit?

i’ve googled and searched topics in the forums and can’t find anything on this topic- please don’t flame me for this question :) just wondering what the benefits of the 64- bit version are over the 32-bit.

A 64 bit application can use more memory than a 32-bit one. A 32-bit version of Maya under windows can use approximately 1.5 GB (gigabyte) of RAM, a 64-bit version of Maya does not have that limit.
