How do I edit the mouse button bindings?

It’s a simple question and something that one should be able to do easily...but apparently, that’s not the case within Maya.

I find it much more ergonomical to use the space button for navigation (i don’t have to keep my hand twisted this way), the alt key for the hot box, and to press shift+space to maximize/minimize viewports.

Any help would be great.
