I have the same problem on my 27’’ iMac with the ATI graphic card HD4850, snow leopard, running maya 2010 - EXTREMELY slow on selecting, rotating around the viewport, channel box, everything is slow except the batch render which is fine. Have all the OSX updates.

What is the problem? Is there any official fix either from autodesk or apple?
Gonna try the switching user accounts trick tonight.

Need help!

Thanks :)

just realized that nobody refered to the fact that maya 2011 has this problem fixed.
The waiting period for new updated maya 2011 was really really annoying…
but still, problem solved.

Maya 2012 has the same issue, but instead of getting a new user account I hit ctrl+space. and tada! The slow selection thingy is gone. Also deleting the history will help but briefly. It seems Maya is looking through the whole scene itself and makes it slow...¿?

I think Autodesk should really look in to this issue, cause this is not a permanent solution.
