Maya 2011 Licensing window gone

I’m trying to install Maya 2011 in Windows 7. I’m having problems activating the software, because the Autodesk Licensing window becomes weird, like in the attached picture file called 2.jpg. The image file 1.jpg shows that everything is normal, before I click on the Activate button. 3.jpg shows the error message that I get after I close the Autodesk Licensing window. I have no idea what could be wrong here, but I suspect something to do with the system registry that has been modified, but I’m really not sure what could be wrong. Please can anyone help?

thanks.. finally a solution that pertains to the problem. no luck with it so far (I tried the second solution), but i’ll keep trying.
