Hello,
I am also trying to install Maya 2012 on Fedora 16 64bit.
This is what I have done so far:
Downloaded the Hotfix 1 for Linux from the Autodesk site
from a terminal logged on as root
and enter ./setup
to kick the installation process off.
I get the following messages in the terminal window:
[root@andrew Downloads]# ./setup
(process:8704): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
QGtkStyle cannot be used together with the GTK_Qt engine.
Qt: Session management error: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
(process:8704): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
Then the GUI maya installer interface pops up, I follow all the prompts.
At the end I am informed Maya was loaded successfully.
However, when I try and launch the application I get an error:
Can you believe it, when I clicked the application to run it the License activation window popped up, and after activating Maya is now working.
So, I don’t need any help.
I have posted this to let you know Maya 2012 will install on Fedora 16.
What I have noticed though was my terminal window is still logged on as root when I tried to launch Maya, maybe that had a bearing on the license activation window popping up.
Also, I had trouble installing Nuke and Hiero. It turns out Fedora 15/16 have changed the way network devices are labeled.
If you follow the instructions here : http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/support/faqs/#question_97
It will set it back to normal, that’s the only change I have made to my system.
Hope it helps.
