I am at my end, seriously. This has been a frustrating day.
I wanted to install the Subscription Advantage Pack, as I like the Node Editor, and Alembic, and we pay THOUSANDS of dollars for this software subscription.
It requires a complete uninstall to install the 2012 SAP.
When the uninstaller runs it errors saying c:\config.msi is not writable, and refuses to uninstall. I check the folder, and yes it’s writable.
Funny thing is, if you click ‘retry’ you can watch it filling the /congif.msi folder with thousands of files --yet it says it can’t write there!
I have tried each of the following:
- Made config.msi writable to ‘Everyone’
- Run the uninstaller as administrator
- reset the msiexec windows installer perms (tip on microsoft site)
- Removed the Maya folder from the hard disk manually, SAP installer still thinks it’s installed!
- Removed Maya from the list of installed programs via regedit (adsk must store a list elsewhere, the SAP installer still says Maya is installed!!!!!)
I just want to uninstall the damn software, is there an ADSK exe somewhere that does a clean uninstall of this stuff? Sorry for sounding so irate, this is just ridiculous the layers of obsfucation in the adsk install/uninstall process.
It’s holiday time, IT is out of office, does it really require an IT DEPT to uninstall Maya??!
