Maya freezes on startup (Mac OSX)

My Maya 2010 just stopped working, although it was fine up till yesterday. It freezes at the startup logo-screen and won’t load.

I then desperately installed 2011 but turns out 2011 just hangs as well. Tried reinstalling, nothing works.

I read some similar problem threads here but they were all for PC. Can some kind soul guide me to getting a fix for mac?
