You said your screen blinks too when you render although you dont get the annoying aftermath flashing, but if you want to get rid of the initial flash try changing your
stereo display mode from the default to something like color interleaved. I no longer have any flashing and maya seems to be more stable now.
I did some homework and the setting is for 3d stereotoppic glasses and my best guess of why I was having the problems is because Maya has the stereo camera and maybe
since Maya supports the 3d monitor mode the GPU is trying to readjust the frame rate to work with stereoscopic glasses, but since im not runinng a 3d monitor I was
getting the problem.
Anyways wanted to pass the info on you may find it helpful in running maya more stable…
