Hello,

I’m working on a project where I have a Fire Torch inside a castle. Everything within the scene is CG, the walls, the torch and of course the fire fluid. My problem is lighting the scene, what is the best way to illuminate a fire? And how can I do that?

Thank you in advance.

What renderer do you plan to use?

Hello,

I use Mental Ray. The way I did it was, I created a point light inside the fire and created an expression for the intensity of the light. I’ll render the fire as a different layer from the background, foreground and add a glow to the fire in post.

The expression is not perfect yet I’m working on it.

Don’t know if this is the best way to do it, but it seems to be working for me.
