Hi, I would like to request the whole Area to please help me in achieving the effects of fog or dusty feel of light rays in Mental ray like the same available in maya renders-spotlight-light effects-foglight .
I have already gone through the tute available in area but it is not doing anything
please refer me a link or any website through i can study
or if someone is very kind he can let me know the steps.
Since my request is very important i would like to thanks in advance to any one who is taking the initiative .
MG,
if you just take a look down this forum I replied to two questions on the same topic in the past couple weeks.
There is an example scene file as well which, although very rough, gives you everything you need to get started with mental ray fog.
If you can’t find them let me know.
All the best.

Thanks sir for being so kind to my post i will definitely check that.
Thanks.
This is a copy of a post I made that I think will help you out.
Mental Ray has a lot of things that are far from intuitive.
Volume Fog is definitely one of those things...but once you get it setup it has some great stuff.
Explaining how I set up volume fog (by no means the ONLY way to do it) would take a long time to type out...so I included a MAYA 2008 MA with a VERY ROUGH setup...but it shows you all you need to know to begin applying it to your scene.
The big thing is to create a volume that will contain/define the fog.
This can be two planes one right at the camera, one at the back of your scene that you parent to your moving camera. Or, as in this scene it can be a cube.
You will see that the fog only shows up in the cube.
In this example, all of the fog is created through the shader and the shading group assigned to the cube.
Between the Render Settings the Light Attributes and the parti_volume node, there are a million things to adjust. I recommend reading a bit about the nodes and/or just start tweaking to see what does what.
Hopefully this gets you moving in the right direction.
All the best.
