I’ve been using the command line to render for the last year or so (after giving up on fixing “batch render” within Maya). But after a year of working with complete reliability, command line render has stopped working too.

After setting the print job up as normal in the terminal window, the error message says that the maya app can not be found (see below), even though I drag-and-drop the path into the Terminal window from the finder..

Starting “/Applications/Autodesk/maya2010/Maya.app/Contents/bin/maya”
Error: could not find installed copy of Maya.  Please install maya
or set MAYA_LOCATION environment variable to point to location
// Maya exited with status 1

Even files that remain unchanged from a few days ago (when it was working) no longer go. The only recent change to the system was an OSX security upgrade.

check the permissions on the account your logged into - the security update most likely reset some priveleges…

I went in and checked and I still have all the old permissions (I’m the admin on this here Mac) ... Thanks for the reply!

Hmmm, you might want to log a CER with Autodesk on that one…

I’m a dunce, I was using Terminal instead of Maya Terminal. Problem “solved” (as in problem never existed).
