Reducing Video File Size from Playblast?

I wonder if somone knows how to keep the video file size to the minimum when the video is created from playblast in maya.

Use a codec such as divx, xvid, mpeg, etc. - preferably ‘after’ that original file is output (not during the actual render).

I’m sorry I’m new to this process. Could you elaborate more on using this codecs.

Kinda beyond the scope of this forum…

but basically you’ll need a 3rd party video editor of some type - could use a commercial package like Premiere/After Effects, Combustion, etc. or maybe one of the simple free editors like VirtualDub to import your raw video file and re-save it out in a compressed format.

There’s a bit of an art to selecting the correct bit rates in the various compression setting, but choosing your file format is fairly straight-forward.

Ok. Thanks as I currently use after effects and can probably use the compressor in the programme for this purpose.
