Hello,

I just got maya 2012 and when I open any type of saved scene, the render view is not working. It just comes up with only the very top menu and an error comes up.

“Error: setParent: object ‘renderView’ not found”

If I open an unsaved scene, the renderView works fine.

Any help would be great! Thanks

try to export all scene(sellect all and export) as asci file, then open a new clean scene and import asci file and save it as a new scene. It should be solved your problem

your scene may contains unknow nodes or data.  In this case, you can write this MEL script to look for the ‘unknown’ node(s)

ls -type unknown;
A list of unknown node(s) will be generated.
You can delete them by typing:

delete `ls -type unknown`;

I have the same problem with the renderview being grayed out as the other people that posted.  The mentalray renders I tried batch rendering is all black.  Software, and Hardware rendering doesn’t work also.
I have Windows 7 on a workstation with NVIDIA Quadro 5010 graphics cards, and 16 gigs of RAM.  I’m working on my thesis with a deadline.
Someone HELPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

Not enough info to go on here…
Could you go into a bit more detail what happened that led up to this current predicament?
Also - can you post up your renderlog?

Have you rebooted your machine recently?
Does it do this on ‘new’ scenes or just previous scenes you’ve worked on?
Tried trashing your Maya preferences?
