The scene contains a polyPlane with proper UVs and I can't get it to write something at all. Maybe somebody using linux or maya 2014 could take a look? Just open the scene, select the plane and render. edit: scene here https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3HCwjjdp4w7REx2aW13UWJVRkE/edit?usp=sharing 2013-05-24T17:26:25+02:00 MR error 081001 and more http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/mr-error-081001-and-more/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/mr-error-081001-and-more/page-last/#When:15:41:08Z I did a few searching, and could never find anything of use, but recently I've been getting RC 0.3 5149 MB error 081001: frame buffer 1 invalid, cannot create file C:/Users/(Omitted)/Documents/Projects/Fly over/images/tmp/Bomber.iff I think I might have a bad install, since this only started coming up since I ran a repair utility on Maya through the Maya installer, and I did that because: When I open a file browser in Maya it always takes a few seconds before it will let me do anything, regardless of where the browser is currently looking (It's the same for all my local drives and network drives) I'll try uninstalling completely and re-installing to see if that fixes the problems, until then, thanks in advanced 2013-05-23T15:41:08+02:00 batch render slower than preview render http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/batch-render-slower-than-preview-render/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/batch-render-slower-than-preview-render/page-last/#When:12:49:24Z for some reason I thought it would be opposite. I started a batch render last night. this morning it made it to frame 126. I glanced at the last 5 or 6 and noticed all were taking exactly 8 minutes. I then did a preview render of frame 126. it only took 3min 44sec. Is my batch render not using the full capability of the computer? I check the options and everything was default. everything was AUTO. any suggestions? 2013-05-23T12:49:24+02:00 VERY VERY VERY dare i say it VERY slow render http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/very-very-very-dare-i-say-it-very-slow-render/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/very-very-very-dare-i-say-it-very-slow-render/page-last/#When:11:46:53Z hi guys, i am at my wits end with this as i have tried many many diffrent ways to try to get my render speeds up. I have been working with maya for about 4 years so i think i have a fair good idea on how to operate it, however i started a 3840x2160 render and at this rate it was rendering at 1% PER HOUR and so far my computer has been at 100% cpu on a quadcore 3.6 extreme for 86 hours.!!! this cant be normal. does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? would a corrupted pref file interfere with the render process? or bad ram? or some other errant problem that i am unaware of? the scene isnt that large 45mb i think and its all MR mats with low AO and low glossy samples with a 4 lights (no raytrace shadows on) with physical sun and sky. i am using 2014 and unified sampling. ANY and ALL assisstance would be most welcome..! 2013-05-23T11:46:53+02:00 refrenced fur taking long to render http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/refrenced-fur-taking-long-to-render/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/refrenced-fur-taking-long-to-render/page-last/#When:10:02:30Z i have some refrenced fur in my scene and for some reason i don't know its taking much longer to render than usual .It does render much faster when i just import it into the scene file. im using maya 2013 mental ray 2013-05-23T10:02:30+02:00 Mental Ray - ray trace settings? http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/mental-ray---ray-trace-settings/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/mental-ray---ray-trace-settings/page-last/#When:09:44:49Z ray tracing: max trace depth and shadows value changes to a high value all by themselves during rendering im using maya 2013 2013-05-23T09:44:49+02:00 Jaggies and artifacts http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/jaggies-and-artifacts/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/jaggies-and-artifacts/page-last/#When:06:43:25Z I am working on a project with a simple square like product on a relatively flat surface. nothing fancy at all. I rendered at 1280x720 using mental ray to iff files. The end result was alot of jagged lines that should be straight. I didnt really notice it at first, but when I viewed it on a 55" monitor it was super apparent. That viewing was from a a condensed h264 version, however I went back and looked at the individual uncompressed frames and I noticed them on my computer monitor. I know yall are gonna want some more information, so I will provide as much as I can and will get any information you guys need to help me. I'm in kind of a bind on this as I was expecting the output to be reasonably good quality. its a 1minute animation that took 3 days to render. some settings I used: maya version: maya 2013 with subscription render engine: mental ray image size: 1280x720 (720HD preset) sampling mode: adaptive min sample level: 0 max sample level: 2 anti-aliasing contrast: 0.1 (default) filter: mitchel (4x4) raytracing: 10, 10, 5, 2, 1, 1 physical sun and sky: yes. using exposure photographic. final gathering: on accuracy: 100 (default) point density: 1 (default) secondary diffuse bounces: 1 filter: 1 reflections: 2 refractions: 2 max trace depth: 4 mia_physicalsky settings: r unit conversion: 0.318 g unit conversion: 0.318 b unit conversion: 0.318 mia_exposure_photgraphic settings: all default except f number which was set to 9. im pretty sure everything else was at default settings. 2013-05-23T06:43:25+02:00 After render, nothing is visible http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/after-render-nothing-is-visible/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/after-render-nothing-is-visible/page-last/#When:21:17:07Z Hi, after i try to render my animation, everything remains black. I've tried adding lights but it makes no difference. I'm not sure why this isn't working now when it's worked before. Any advice would be great. I'm animating a rigged geometry that has weights and colours painted on it. 2013-05-22T21:17:07+02:00 Light Linking problem... http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/2-light-linking-problem/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/2-light-linking-problem/page-last/#When:12:42:41Z I have a scene with a car. The car is being lit by a HDRI and a Directional Light. However, the tires are too deep in shadow. So I created a Spot Light to illuminate just the tires a bit and used the Light Link Editor to make sure only the tires are being affected. But when I produce a render the full car is also being lit. The Light Link Editor shows only the tires linked to the Spot Light, and conversely only the Spot Light linked to the tires. I also tried the "Select objects illuminated by light" and "Select light illuminating objects" to check linking and all is correct. I also tried the "Make light links" and "Break light links". The full car is still being lit by the Spot Light. This is like Maya 101. VERY easy basic stuff. So what gives. I'm at a dead end here !!!!!!! 2013-05-21T12:42:41+02:00 Maya Batch Render Issue on Mac http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/maya-batch-render-issue-on-mac/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-maya/lighting---rendering/maya-batch-render-issue-on-mac/page-last/#When:09:19:30Z Hi, Basically the maya 2013 batch render is completely screwing me over, I've been using the program for a good couple of years now on my macbook pro, during my first year I did not experience a single batch render issue. However this year when going to render out a project, the batch render appears to instantly complete my 120 frame render and tells me to refer to console for more details, every time the batch render has acheived nothing at all and simply will not batch render anything. I have checked the render logs which just point out that it believes it is completing renders instantly. This happened to a friend of mine on his macbook he in the end had to re format his mac to be able to batch render again, i thought this was a bit drastic but with deadline approaching i followed suit. reformatted mac, batch render works again, i render out a good 240 frames. 2 days later, same problem, no settings have been changed, nothing has changed it has just decided to not render anything and then telling me it has completed the render. I have tried deleting the preferences, maya generates a new preferences folder yet the problem persists. A fix for this would be much appreciated. I am stumped and would rather not re format my mac every time i want to render something. Cheers to the Sherlock that may figure this out in advance. 2013-05-21T09:19:30+02:00
