Hi I am a new maya user I just discovered that I cannot adjust the RGB levels of a texture. However in max I can just do that and thus fake reflections of a studio lighting like I did with Max.

Anyone got a clue

The Color Chooser lets you type in RGB or HSV values above 1.0. It you perfer a slider, hold down the Ctrl key and LMB (very slow) MMB (slow) or RMB (fast) drag in the numerical field.

you can adjust the RGB levels of an image by outputting the file texture node to “Remap Color” node which allows you control of each color present in the texture based upon Value. Left being the black point and right being the white point of each channel. You have independent interpolation controls and the ability to clamp input as well as output.
