For the drinking glass and windows, try using ‘thin walled’ instead of the ‘solid’ option (under the advanced refraction).

To solve the problem of blurry refractions, I had to turn off “Render Shaders With Filtering” in the Customization section of the Options tab in the Render Settings.

It’s a bug that was introduced on 2011, that has not been solved in 2011 Hotfix 2. It’s similar to the bug described in http://mayastation.typepad.com/m...with-mental-ray-2011.html

At first I thought it was the same problem, but it now appears to be different. The suggestion that is made in that blog post to turn off “Export With Shading Engine” does not fix the blurry textures, but disabling filtering of the textures on the objects that appear behind the refracting object does help to remove the blur.
