I’m working on a project and we are using toon shaders for our characters. One of the characters needs specific textures on it rather than face painting that we’ve used on the other characters, so I wanted to create a UV and Texture map for it. I’m not familiar with creating Toon Shaders or using them at all (that’s someone else’s responsibility), so I was wondering if you can create a standard .jpg texture map for a character and still render that character using the toon shader. Thanks.

I had been trying to do that also, using a texture with transparency (essentially a decal) on a toon-shaded mesh. The closest I got was a transparent object except where the decal was.

I was using the hypershade screen and hooking up the ramp (toon) shader with other nodes. I will be back trying this soon, but if someone that knows more can share their learning a little, there is more than one interested in reading it.
