Hi,

I have an object with a file texture.
The UV Map has been exported with the snapshot option (so without the above-stated file texture) in the UV texture editor and I modified the UV map into photoshop (including transparency).
How can I import the modified UV map again and link it to the current file texture so that I have both textures on my object ?

Thanks.

I’m not sure if that can be done but you can just modify the UVs in the Maya UV editor as well as just modify the texture to fit the UVs

I tend to do a bit of both

Thanks Bloodmuffin,
However I can not adapt the texture because it serves other objects and I need to add to the exported UV snapshot some photoshopped items which I cannot do in the UV editor.
Any other suggestion ?
Thanks !

cant you just make copies of that texture and adjust them to each specific object?

I guess that could do the trick (even if I have my doubts in case you have to tile your texture), but I am sure that Maya offers the flexibility to add a file shader with an image (including transparency) over another file texture…

yeah you can use either a layered texture or layered shader and only .png or .tiff files can display transparencies to my knowledge. Which ever shader you use that has a layering function layering order is essential for the desired results.

If you’re using mental ray materials you can look here http://area.autodesk.com/for...ing-mental-ray-materials/

Also posting a pic of your work would be fun too.

Thanks for your suggestion. I plan to use 3delight to render.
I however found the solution thanks to Layered textures.

Let me know if any further explanation needed.
