hello ,

i need some help,

I want to create a fur look (uneven object edges)with out using fur in maya ,
i can paint the object faces to look like fur but the objects edges are so even, so it dont gt a fur look how can i make the objects edge look fury..

im rendering in mentalray,maya 2010,and the object will be rigged and animated

You might try a cloud shader in the transparency that is really pushed to the edges of the shaderBall.

The cloud shader will soften all the edges of your object as they turn away from the camera.

You need to play around with it to begin to get something that just breaks up the edges a bit, and doesn’t turn your object into a bit of cloudy nothingness.
