Hello! im new to animation so im learning through tutorials and whatever information i can fin, today i was following a simple tutorial on modeling, texturing and rendering a screwdriver, i already finished the model but when i try to apply a dieletric or dgs material to create a glass like texture these render in black, i have tried changing the settings for the material but even if i do so the sample wont even change from black.

Am i doing something wrong? thanks a lot.

Check to make sure that inside of your render settings under raytracing that you refractions and reflections are high enough for the material to sample correctly. Increment by 1 for each surface a ray would traverse through. Also make sure that the accumulated samples in both the Refl/Ref are put into the Max attr. So 2+2=4. That should clear that up.
