How to make blood cell shader?

Hi friends,

Working out in maya for blood shader. Working very hard but not able to get the exact shade for red blood cell. plz help me out. what should i do?

I think the traditional approach is to use a sampler info node to drive a ramp shader, so you get a nice transition in color from the edges of the cell to the areas facing the camera.

Same principle is used to create velvet/satin/xray style shaders.
