Thanks for ya sample scene. It was very useful.

I have always known about MR Sky, Sun and Portal but wrongly thought it would overcomplicate things but having seen ya scene and reading up the MR manual, I think it makes it simplier and more efficent. I will continue to experiment.

One of the problem I had was trying to aim the sun light into your window. I tried to use the “look thru selected” option but all I get is a horizontal line which looks like the horizon but wasnt!!! Did I do some thing wrong or did I need to do something directed? I ended up just using the top, side and front views to aim.

In response to ya previous question regarding my uploaded scene, my scene was created entirely in Maya but in an attempt to simplify the scene for uploading, I removed alot of objects which my cause the issue you were experiencing!

To shine the sun light through the window, just transform the SunDirection object…

yeah, that’s what I had to do but it is not a very good or accurate way of aiming something.

btw, in 3DS when using the sun system, u can specify the location and the time. 3DS then position the sun for you. Much easier and more accurate. Does Maya have something like this?
