First, the Illustrator file needs to be saved with compression disabled.
The in Maya, under the ‘Create’ menu in the modeling menuset, there’s an option to select an Illustrator (.ai) file. Go into the options to import as curves, or extruded/beveled geometry.

I would like to add that if your having issues with some of the curves, use Illustrator 8 as Export option.
After you get all that in, then its all fun and games as far as prepping the curves for whatever you wish ;)

Ah, I thought you were dealing with a vector path.

To bring a regular raster image in (your logo) - use the hypershade to create a material, and assign a file node to the color/diffuse slot by clicking the little checkerboard to the right of the color box in the attribute editor…

ok, that makes more sense to me now, i wanted to make their logo into geometry and put the logo on in a .psd network then do a turntable for it, so they can just play that as filler when they have nothing else going on

we have yet to discuss fully how much i will be paid for, what do u think you would charge for this project? as u can tell im new to the freelancing world hahaha

Pay is outside the scope of this forum, and generally taboo to discuss in public, suffice it to say, you need to set your own rate based on your skills/abilities rather than what someone else would charge.

Since you have CS4 master you can bring in your image into Illustrator and use Live Trace on the object and make a vector file out of it before you import that illustrator file into Maya.  I’ve done this on a number of occasions and it works fine.
