Not real sure what your asking, you want to use a PSDnode in your shader or you want to UVMap your model?

Ive never used mental ray before. The first thing I discovered was that it didnt seem to like psd maps that were simple hypershade items, but jpgs were fine. I then tried to create a UV map using image/create psd network in the UV texture editor. when the option box opened it had no attributes, like color bump difuse etc.
I realise now that I need to find some tuition on the subject but am not having much luck finding anything on line
I hope this is clearer im not the best comunicator sorry.

When using PSD’s, be sure your plugging them into a ‘PSD file’ node and not directly into the material (then plug that PSD file node into the material).

MentalRay doesn’t support all of Photoshop’s fancy FX, but for the most part, you should be able to use your PSD file(s) just fine.

To access your material’s attributes, double-click your material in the hypershade or hit ctrl-a.

Ok thanks I didnt know about the ‘PSD file node’ ill try that.
Apart from that, the problem I had, Ive discovered wasnt exactly to do with mental ray although my lack of knowledge on the subject may have caused the problem. I dont know what caused it but I dicovered that the create psd network option box was set in a way I dont understand , I simply reset and everything is working fine now - mental ray supports psd’s etc..

I suspect the psd file node just presents .psd’s to MentalRay in a way it can understand it (doesn’t support them natively).
