Hello everyone!

I have an issue with mia_materials
As soon as i click on a mesh with a mia_material assigned, The Textured channel (in Hardware Texturing of the mia_material) switch automatically from Diffuse to None. So, in the viewport, all the meshes with this shader assigned become black.....
I can switch back the textured channel to Diffuse but as soon as i click again on a mesh, they all return black again.

Did someone have this issue too and found a solution?

Please help :)

Sorry for my english (i’m french): i hope i made myself clear?

Hmmm, well first off try deleting the prefs file under the Maya Directory, and then reopen Maya. Try using Mia_Material_X Instead, too, I have found it to be more powerful and works beautifully.

I have seen this w/material_X in some cases.  For example, if I have a layered shader with a surface shader on top of a material_X (ie, to place a logo with transparency), the material is black in the viewport in textured mode.  Not pretty.

open uv editor, in texture drop down select a texture node. this happens when you have multiple textures assigned using component selection and maya gets confused at what texture to use.

if you keep your uv texture editor closed, it shouldnt happen again.

Hello guys and thanks for your answers!

The trouble is : It’s not a shader with multiple textures or a layered shader. It happens with a simply default mia_material:

I create a default Mia_material (no file texture or anything) and assign it to a default polygon cube.
I select the polygon cube and open the UV Texture Editor (or open the UVTE and then select the polygon cube)
>>> The polygon cube(and other objects with this shader assigned) becomes black in the viewport.

I guess the trouble comes from the UVTE.
No problem when i use the Viewport 2.0.
No problem with a mia_material with a file_texture in Diffuse.

Tasteful Barbarian you’re right !

The issue doesn’t not happen with the mia_material_x.
So maybe i should upgrade all my shaders from mia_material to mia_material_x?

Is there any good reason to keep standard mia_materials?
do they have something better than the mia_material_x shaders?
