Hi

I imported in my scene a Galileo probe model in 3ds format that someone I came across sent me. He modeled it in some other program years ago and was kind enough to find it back and send it to me. The problem is that Mental Ray won’t render its bump map in any way.

So I imported a Hubble scene in that current Galileo scene and applied a texture from Hubble to Galileo. Well you can see that the problem isn’t the texture, it has something to do with the meshes. Strange enough, the dish of Galileo shows bumps.

I’m totaly in the dark here. I tried to reset the normals of my model. I did compare all the attributes from an object to another but couldn’t find a difference. I did export again my model in obj, .mb, taking textures off and keeping only groups. I also made sure the Approximation attribute was set to Derive from Maya.  It didn’t change much.

The thing is that bump will show with Maya renderer but not with MR on the objects that are mirror like.

Does anyone have a clue?

Thank you

Does the mesh have UVs?

Thanks Big Time
I did create Uv and bumps appeared just like magic.

I’m a novice on its way to be less ignorant.
