Hi all,

I was trying to customize a leaf texture of one of the paintFX trees, but to my surprise I couldn’t even open the images in an image editor.  Eventually I tried a image viewer (xnview) and resaved the file as something else.

Are we not supposed to edit the textures or is it just my installs of Maya 2011 and 2012?

Regards,
Rooftop

Many of the paintFX image files date back to the original AliasWavefront release of Maya.

FCheck is able to open/convert the .iff image files, and with a couple plugins, Photoshop can work with the .rgb and .sgi files (as well as .iff).

Just be sure to save your modified files to a new location - not over the originals.
