I crash out after I attach a .psd file to a psd file node in the hypershade window. Any help for this? Am I doing something wrong or is 2011 jacked up because this isn’t the only issue I have with maya.

I do not have the same issue. I tried it with a blinn material and connecting psd file to color input.

Doing that still crashes me. It’s when I click open to attack my psd file to the psd file node.

.psd works here.

Which version of photoshop are you using?
What is the color mode?
What’s the bit depth?
Does it open in 2010?

Hmm, I seem to have had the color mode set to black and white, would that do it? The version is Maya 2011.

Maya doesn’t like B&W much, prefers RGB

I had a similiar problem (not sure if it is the same). Luckily for me, my shader network was very simple so I recreated from scratch. This resolved the problem. I’m guessing, for my situation, it was something to do with the fact that I tried to update the photoshop file without its proper file setup (i.e. a folder for diffuse, a folder for specular etc etc).
