so say I have a big hierarchy of objects parented to other objects.
if you assign a shader to a parent, all of its children get shaded.
theres Got to be a way to get around this without unparenting first right? because when your
working with lots of objects its just not efficient to unparent just to change a shader......
anyone know??

Select one of the children, then hit the ‘left’ or ‘right’ arrow key till it cycles to the parent, then apply your material.
