Hello,

I am animating a cell phone that has a blinn material applied to it and an image file mapped to the color channel of the blinn. The idea is that the cell phone will spin and without us noticing (thanks to motion blur and the speed of the spin) at the end of the spin when the phone comes to rest it will be showing a different material (which is actually the same blinn with a different image mapped to its color channel).
I haven’t been able to find a way to switch the image that is mapped to the color channel during the spin.
Any tips on how to achieve this effect within Maya?

Thanks!

(I am using Maya 2009 on a Mac)

Use a ‘blend colors’ node and keyframe the transition

yes, that did the trick!
Is there a way to do it with more than 2 textures? This node seems to be limited to 2 inputs.
Thanks!

you could daisychain the belndColors node, but you’re much better off animating the texture. I’ve explained that on one of the other forums where someone (you?) asked the same question. Briefly; turn on Use Image sequence, break the default expression on the Image Number attributeand set your keyframes manually.
