Hi all,
From a character project I’m working on I’ve applied textures on the body of my character, but after I closed the programme and opened the file in another computer, I noticed that my character’s skin which I already applied textures is now shiny white.
Note that I had the texture deleted mistakely after I applied this textures.
What do you think I should either to reattach my character skin texture or how can I avoid this problem from happening again.

please see attached files to know my point.

Thanks and hope you can help.

It appears you are applying a texture map in your shader - did you also copy this file over to the other machine?

Exacly, I do my maya projects in two different computers.

So you’ve loaded the scene in Maya on the second computer - did you hit the ‘6’ key to switch to textured view?

yes, I did, Infact that’s why it has that shiny white color. with #5 key, it’s just a model without shaders yet.

Okay, make sure your texture image is plugged into color/diffuse slot of the shader in the hypershade.

I’m sorry for the dumbness of my questions as I’m still new to maya. What steps do I take to plug this color/diffuse slot.

Thanks.

Create a material in the hypershade - lambert for example, and open it’s settings in the attribute editor. Click the little checkerboard icon to the right of the ‘color’ slot, and it will prompt you with a bunch of different things you can plug into it - in this case, select ‘file’, and then select the little folder icon to the right of the ‘file’ slot to navigate to where the texture image is located in your project folder.
