Hi there,
I’m rendering a scene in Mental Ray with Final Gather turned on, and it looks great.

I have one texture, though, that I want to just display as exactly the image map, at that luminosity (it’s a TV screen). I’ve disconnected all the lights from the objects involved, turned off Final Gather for the object, but I’m not sure what to do next. I tried hooking the texture map to the Incandescent or Ambient channels as well as Color, but that doesn’t seem to quite do the trick.

Anyone know how to make a texture in Maya that just ignores lighting and displays as-is? (like an older videogame texture would, for example).

thanks!
-Travis

Instead of using one of the common shaders (like Blinn or Lambert) assign your texture to a “Surface Shader”.
