Hi,

I’ve managed to get a file rendering through the command line, but Ive now hit a brick wall while trying to get something to render with a bit more control.

I have a file set up with a character 5 cameras set at 45 degree intervals with a light parented to each camera.

What I’m trying to do is render out from each camera with just 1 light illuminating at a time. i.e camera 1 illuminated with light 1 ..... then camera 2 illuminated with light 2 etc…

Its the a way to render and turning on/off the relevant lights?

An alternative way I was thinking was have 1 camera and 1 light and have these rotate at 45 degree intervals around the character, but again I dont know it its possible to rotate the camera with the parented light from the command line?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Render Layers: Create all your cameras with lights parented. Create 5 new render Layers and assign one group to one layer. Does this work?

thanks for the reply.

This would work, but the problem is I have 16 render layers which I need to render out the character in separate body parts.

Is there another way to do this?

I would like to know that why exactly you want to render through command-line?

Command-line rendering saves memory resources, since it doesn’t have to load all of Maya into RAM…

now, I perfectly know tht, but in this particular case when this guy wants to perform so many complicated operations DURING COMMAND LINE RENDERING, that’s why I was wondering ;)
