I am trying to develop a script to turn off the display of the Output Window. Does anyone know how to address this window via MEL?

Hi There,
What do you mean by turn off display? Kill the window? Stop outputting data in the display window? I wrote a plug in to kill/reopen the window, but to tell it to stop...hmm I’m not sure if you can do that.  If you’re interested please email me and I’ll send you the plugin. (norbertnacu@hotmail.com)

Thank You,
Norbert Nacu

Yes!!  I would like that script--the output window is annoying--why should I keep it open when modeling?  Can u tell me the importance of looking at warnings and errors that make no difference to me?

Hi There,
What version of Maya are you using? I’ll send you the plug-in asap.

Thanks,
Norbert Nacu

Norbert:

Thanks - I downloaded your plug-in on Creative Crash. Unfortunately, mental ray shows the window every time you render the current frame. Minimizing the window is fine but when Maya is iconified it means an extra click (to select between the main window and output)

By adding “nOutputWindow -k;” to the Post render MEL I was able to approximate the behavior I want - but it would be nice to be able to permanently hide the window.

Any update on this issue? I find the Output Window popping up each time very vexing too.
