Hey Hey,

Well i am posting this question in the hope some-one might have an answer , because i have this in one of my workflows and i need to speed it up.!
Anyway, its like this, i have just made a unified skin in ZBrush which is quite high in polys and i have imported the obj into Maya, now i would like to reduce the poly count , but using the “reduce” command in Maya doesnt really give nice even results , so i have laboriously gone over the surface of the mesh and selected every other edge and then used the delete edge/vert command. i usually have to do two or three passes to get a fairly low even mesh. this gets very tedious and is quite time consuming, having to select each edge.
Now is there a way to gets maya to select every other line on the mesh? i have enclosed an image to show you what i mean.

I have found that doing it like this gives me a nicer final mesh , its just that it takes too long.

many thanks in advance..!

yeah thanks for that , but i did say the reduce command doesnt do a very good job and i have played around with the settings but still no go , have a look at the mesh below. i just thought there might have been a plug-in/ script so that you could select alternate edges on the mesh as this would produce a much cleaner final mesh.
