Any improvements in Maya polygon modeling?

Hi guys, i want to know if improvements in poly modeling in Maya in recent versions?
(compared to Softimage poly modeling), i want to start one of them for poly modeling (for games)

and haw the construction history is compare to the operator stack?

the operator stack is somehow like modifier stack in 3ds max
