Booleans Troubles

Every time I work on one particular part of a red wagon reference modeling exercise I cannot get the difference setting in the booleans tool to cut a hole successfully
into a smoothed out polygon square(that has it’s sides beveled). In fact, the whole polygon square disappears. I’ve looked at several videos and even a thread on a totally different site that discussed the same problem, however nothing has worked out. In addition, I’ve done some experimenting and found that if I do not bevel the side or even smooth out the whole polygon square I can cut a hole. However, two of the faces on the polygon square vanish. What is the best way to resolve such a problem? Not the second problem but the first one.

Hey Clint,

Are you able to attach the Maya file or a picture of what you are working on? I will run some tests to see if I can determine what the problem is if you post it :)

Thanks,

Vas
