Hi people

This is my first posting and what I’d like to know is whether Maya can do accuracy.

for instance:

Is it possible for me to select two edges or vertices and type in an exact distance that I would like to have between them.

very fine accuracy is not required.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give to me.

there are a few methods you could do to solve this, one would be to use the distance tool (create -> Measure Tools -> Distance Tool), which you can move the two locators and the distance between them is annotated. you could then snap the two verts to the locators (hold v and drag to point snap).
for edges you could just duplicate the distance tool once your ready and move the 4 verts instead.

Maya by default works in cm, (which can be adjusted in preferences).

Does that help?

EDIT: you could make this easier with abit more of a setup. depending on your needs by connecting each verts translate data (the ones you want to move) to the locators translate, you then can display the distance between verts by moving them, instead of the locators and point snapping the verts to them.

Apologies if this is badly worded, haven’t long got up.
