Hiya all.

In 3DS, you can create a curve but then have options to make it renderable plus be able to modify its thickness. It basically “converts” the curve/line to a cylinder mesh (that follows the curvature of the curve/line). The thickness is the diameter of the cylinder.

Is something like this possible in Maya?

3DS Max 6 to 2009, Maya 2010
Windows XP Pro x64 SP2
NVIDIA Quadro 1700, Quad Core 2.67GHz, 4Gb RAM

you can extrude a circle along the curve - leave the construction history on and control the thickness by changing the diameter or scale of the circle

Okay, I give that a go. Thanks

You could try attaching a paintFX brush to it…

Could you expand on that? What will paintFX do?

You could use something like one of the marker paintFX brushes (attach it to your CV curve by going to “paint effects - curve utilities - attach brush to curves")

Then just modify the paintFX brush to your liking.
