Is there a way to specify what pieces of history you want to delete? I skinned a mesh and then did a projection on it with a texture. but now when I move it the projection gets messed up because of its history, and deleting all history takes away the skinning… (non deformer history wont delete, i guess its a bug)

have you checked your delete non-deformer history settings?
make sure its set to All non-deformer history.

ive had a quick play, and there nothing i can see to specifically delete selected history, but theres a few ways to tackle this.

best way might be to delete connections from the skin-node to the mesh, and make sure all the non-deformer nodes are connected to the mesh, delete the history then reconnect the skin node.

you could set up a duplicate object mesh, connect the projection etc (all the stuff you want to delete) from original mesh to duplicate, delete the history on that then connect the skin-node etc to the duplicate?

another way would be to export the skin-weights, delete all history (if the non-deformer history still doesn’t work) then reskin the joints and import the skin-weights.

if you abit script savvy, you should also be able to have a look into what maya does when it deletes the history.

hope that helps.

What is the Edit -> Delete by Type -> History menu for? Deleting History on selected objects.

Make a new scene, make a cube and a sphere. Both have history on them.
Select the Sphere (in the scene or the Outliner), and then use Edit -> Delete by Type -> History.
Look back at your scene, the Cube will still have history but it till be gone on the Sphere.
