Hi, I’ve just started to learn Maya and I’m studying the tutorial PLE 8.5, building a Temple. But when I got to the point where I were to create a torus and select its components something went wrong. I set the selection mode to component and I selected Control Vertex from the pop-up menu. But I got a warning saying // Edit UV Mode is not enabled on Entablature. UVs will not be selectable.// Instead of a set of blue squares appearing on Entablature they are pink and i can’t move them.

I’ve been trying to google this problem and I’ve been looking through the maya help but I don’t understand how to fix this. I’d be really greatful if someone would try to explain this to me.

/Anna

I got the same problem “Edit UV Mode is not enabled on Entablature. UVs will not be selectable.” It wont let me manipulate the scene by that i mean it selects the hole scene not the upper vertex like I want; so I can give it the egg shape to the torus. Any help??

it’s a nurbs torus, do you think it’s some kind of setting somewhere that I must change?

Try to creat new scene and make a torus. Then right click on it-Control vertex. You’ll see The pink points and you can move them. If you’ll have the same problem, i really can’t imagine, i can’t understand any connections between moving components as control vert. And UV coordinates.
I tryed to remake this problem:  // Edit UV Mode is not enabled on Entablature. UVs will not be selectable.// shows when you choose SURFACE UV in right botton menu!, just select Control verticles (or select torus and press F8)
UV is coordinates for texturing object
Good Luck.

I did what you suggested ArtPetrovich, and it worked! Thank you very very much :)
But isn’t it strange that the color of the squares are pink instead of blue, like they show in the tutorial? I don’t know what the colors mean and as long as things are working, that’s enought for me. I’m just curious if you know why they’re pink instead of blue? anyhow, here’s a screenshot.

There are ways to change the colors of selected and unselected vertexes, I don’t remember how though…
Good luck with the model!
