When I go from object to faces mode I no longer get the pretty little dots in the middle of the polygon. Also, there seems to be some kind of color change to the poly and he vertices around it. Did I fat finger some setting I am unaware of? How do I go back to simpletown?
Soft select is not on. Poly selection is set to center. I’ve even deleted my pref file and the behavior continues.
I made a simple polygon plane 100x100 this morning. I chose face and 2 things happen, the faces change clor as I select, but the verticies hightlight as well and sometimes the ones around teh polt I select. ALSO I made this plane very big and zoomed out and noticed that I could select faces (with the weird vertice highlights), but it will mirror my selection someplace else on the plane. WTF is that all about?
All I want to do is extrude some steps, off a floor.... this isn’t cool.

The image on the left shows how the selection is mirrored. the faces in the middle were extruded, but notice how a couple of the front ones came straight up but the rest dragged the next polys with them? The image on the right is very telling. Telling what I don’t know. When I render, the selected faces are automatically given a different texture.
It seems like when I select faces it’s mixing faces and vericies together. Maybe? I’m grabbing at straws. I need to model a photrealistic half sunken temple ruin by friday and the if extrude can’t be controlled I’m in for a heap of insanity.
