I am starting to learn Maya and I did some 3Ds Max, Would you please tell me what’s the best for head/face modeling nurbs or poly ? how about Body modeling ? would poly face modeling be more easy for animation ? and if the answer is Poly, would it be more interesting to do it with 3Ds Max ???
Thank you for your interest.

Hi,
I really would prefer to use Polys, the reason is that it is easier to control and change the topology and edgeflow. Same goes for the body.

If you now do that on Max or Maya is your choice, both are great applications with powerful tools.
Try both if you can and see which suits you better.

you have more freedom with nurbs whether using maya or max. nurbs isnt a rigid surface like polygons

but you cant change the topology to make it complex like you would need on a 3d face.
You cant merge vertices, delete edges and redraw them.
Try to model a character using Nurbs - I would really like to see what you come up with…
